Flandre Scarlet (フランドール・スカーレット Furandooru Sukaaretto) is the younger sister of Remilia Scarlet and a vampire who lives at the Scarlet Devil Mansion. She first appeared as the Extra stage boss of Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, and has appeared as a playable protagonist in Touhou Gouyoku Ibun.

Backstory

Flandre has lived for at least 495 years, but she has allegedly never left the grounds of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, and rarely leaves even the building itself, if ever. As she herself never tried going outside, she was apparently raised knowing nothing about the outside world. However, she's shown a slight interest to go outside after the events of Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. Her initial attempt to do so was blocked by Patchouli Knowledge's rain summoning magic in the Extra Stage.

Meeting Flandre

I discovered who Flandre Scarlet was in late 2010 when I was 9 years old. To say I was captivated is an understatment. I loved absolutely everything about her, from her theme (UN. owen was her!), her design, to her personality, her story! As a child, I saw her as myself. Someone who was locked in a basement, unable to get out, kept locked away from the things she could potentinally be in danger of or destory. I was a very sheltered kid growing up. I saw her as a lot like me! Well, she was me in a way! A child with an outgoing and rambunctious personality, who loves rainbows, and fun! Though, a child who is emotionally stunted due to family (her sister, Remilia Scarlet) shes still very energetic and docile! She became a part of me, my being! With it now being 12 years later, I am still so very in love with Flandre Scarlet! She will be a character that I will forever hold dear!

Flandre Scarlets BIGGEST FAN!

As stated above, one of the main things I loved about Flandre was her wings! As a kid I adored rainbows, having a very specific rainbow blanket I would carry around everywhere! She was cute and had a crazy side to her (due to Fanon!) which made her catch my eye! Even though its ridiculous to think of now, I'm still quite fond of how Fanon portrays her! I know a lot of people in the fandom highly disagree with the way shes portrayed but I always thought it was charming. But on another note, maybe thats because I was 10 and had little braincell hahaha!

Seeing that she made it in Touhou Gouyoku Ibun I was in awe! Especially with how she was treated in the game! It took 19 years for her to be featured in another game, and EVEN BETTER! For her to solve an INCIDENT!!! which Remiu and Marisa could not!

Flandre Scarlet is my everything! ૮ฅ・ﻌ・აฅ

Thoughts on Remilia Scarlet?

Knowing Remilia Scarlet, Flandres own sister, was the one to lock Flandre away in lore... I grew up highly disliking her as a character. It's an odd thing to say, but Remilia Scarlet was a character I casted all of my anger onto. Looking back it seems silly to cast all of your childhood anger onto a character. But being sheltered I didnt have much to take it out on.

Since I projected onto Flandre so much myself, I only imagined Remilia as a terrible wicked sister with her sights set on hurting and isolating Flandre, keeping her locked away for all eterney in a mansion she didn't really see as home.

But in reality. Remilia Scarlet is shown to care for her sister in multiple of ZUNs works. Growing up made me realize how much I missed out on adoring Remilia as a character! Instead, I had put all of my focus and energy into Sakuya Izayoi (Remilias personal guard and maid)! Now that im an adult, I'm able to express my love for her as the owner of the Scarlet Devil Mansion and the culprit of the Scarlet Mist Incident!

I named my cat after Remilia! I call her Rem for short! ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ

I happily own figures, keychains, and merchandise of Remilia now ^_^ !! Pictures below!
